Austrian Paper Decries Measures Imposed on Greece by European Governments

The editors of an article on the Austrian paper ‘Profil’, Guenter Mueller and Robert Treichler, pose a simple question to the European Governments: “if they would still support all these measures imposed on Greece if these measures have been imposed to their own countries”.

The article, accompanied by relevant tables, refers to the cuts of wages and the tax burdens as well as to the cuts concerning the health and education sector through the abolition of many job positions for educators.

The editors of the article emphasize that despite the turmoil in Greece, the troika insists on further cuts of the minimum wage in Greece.

According to the editors, Greece has become a field for experimentation for the European financial experts. “If the imminent collapse of Greece comes true, then the experiment can be repeated in Portugal”, the article concludes.
