Mother of Greek Assault Victim To Testify in Iceland Court Case

The mother of a Greek tourist, who was the victim of a severe physical assault in Reykjavik in May 2010, will testify in the place of her son, according to the decision of the Supreme Court of the country.

The man died in December for reasons not related to the attack and his mother will now testify on his behalf on the trial.

According to IceNews, the mother will be called upon to describe her son’s physical and mental condition after the attack, and her testimony could affect the level of sentencing if the defendants are found guilty.

The Greek tourist was allegedly attacked by three men aged between 27 and 33 years-old in May 2010. All three suspects have denied the charges and filed an appeal against the mother testifying in their case given her biased emotions.

According to witnesses, however, the three men kicked and punched the Greek tourist after provoking him to have a drink. The man was left lying and bleeding before being transported to hospital.
