Anglo-Greek Symposium on Banking and Finance at Leicester University

The University of Leicester is working with a Greek University to focus attention on banking and finance issues. The Efficiency and Productivity Research Unit, part of the University’s School of Management, is collaborating with Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) for a one-day Research Symposium on Banking and Finance on Saturday November 19 2011.

Dr Meryem Duygun Fethi, from the School of Management said: “The recent global financial crisis has highlighted a number of weaknesses in our knowledge and understanding of the institutions of the financial sectors of modern economies. It is, therefore, very timely that the Efficiency and Productivity Research Unit of the University of Leicester School of Management should organise a research symposium on banking and finance.

“The contributors and participants in this symposium come from a variety of countries to discuss some of the more important structural features of financial systems. Topics such as bank competition; bank regulation; and bank branding, which have been consigned to specialist backwaters are now given center stage at this symposium.”

A line-up of informed speakers from Europe and North America will discuss bank regulation, bank branding and other timely and pertinent topics.

Attendance at the symposium is free but places must be reserved by 7 November 2011. Please contact Dr Meryem Duygun Fethi m.fethi@le.ac.uk for details
