Eurozone Jobless Rate Steady At 10%, in Greece at 16.7%

Unemployment rate in Eurozone held steady at 10 percent in August for a third successive month, data published by Eurostat showed Friday.
This was in line with expectations and slightly below last year’s 10.2 percent. The number of unemployed persons fell marginally to 15.7 million from 15.8 million in July.

Around 16 million people were unemployed in Eurozone a year ago. The jobless rate among European Union member states was also unchanged in August at 9.5 percent.
Spain continued to have the highest unemployment rate in euro area, at 21.2 percent, followed by Greece with a jobless rate of 16.7 percent in the second quarter. Austria has the lowest unemployment rate among euro members at 3.7 percent.
