Two-day Symposium for Theodoros Terzopoulos in Berlin

An International Conference, organized by the Department of Theatre Studies is taking place on 23rd and 24th of September at the Greek Cultural Institution of Berlin, to honor the theatrical work of Theodoros Terzopoulos.

The symposium under the title “Dionysus in Exile” will explore the wandering of Terzopoulos and his theatre in space and time, in order to describe the way in which the director and his theatre destabilizes the given and displaces forms and significations, to think about the “aesthetics of the exile” as a political act of entrenchment of the unfamiliar.

It is the first time that the University of Berlin does homage to a Greek artist. During the Symposium, Terzopoulos will teach students of Ernst Busch and Udk (Universitat der Kunste) academies his work method.

The symposium will come to an end in 2012 with Attis Theatre Performances, photo exhibition of Johanna Weber and sculpture installations by Yiannis Kounellis.
