”Alps” by Giorgos Lanthimos Wins Best Screenplay at Venice Film Festival.

Yorgos Lanthimos (R) and Efthimis Filippou during the closing ceremony of the 68th Venice Film Festival

Yorgos Lanthimos and Efthimis Filippou hold the Osella prize for best screenplay for film “Alps” at  68th Venice Film Festival.
Alps, by Yorgos Lanthimos, is a dark satire that rides on cold aesthetics. Of its quartet of main characters, one is a teen gymnast, and she joins a band of eccentrics who make a living by re-enacting the lives of dead people to comfort their aggrieved families. It’s a dangerous game for both sides as the various identities assumed by the Alps team _ as the quartet call themselves _ merge into and consume their real lives.
