The preparations for the 50th anniversary of the Wine Festival in Limassol, starting on the 8th of September came in the final sprint.

The mascot of the cypriot farmer with traditional breeches was put in its usual position at the central point of the Municipal Gardens where it will remain till the 18th of september.

The crews of the City are working with enthusiasm to make sure the festival can accommodate the various booths, while yesterday at the City Hall, the contracts were signed for the construction of new pavillions with four wineries, participating to the event. Many innovations are being expected, said the president of the organising committee, Antony Chatzipavlou.

Due to the 50th anniversary, there will be events in central squares, a parade of 50 antique cars and the center of the city and the touristic area will be tailored.

The cultural events that will surround the ten day festival will cover the famous tradition of wine, including music and dance presentations and cypriot sketches, and of course the traditional wine press.

The festival of the 50th anniversary has prepared a special edition, “Oinochryso Iovilaio”, and commemorating stamps have already been printed. Last but not least, collective glasses and bottles will be available for sale, and with their entry ticket, visitors will have the opportunity to win a car.
