New Zealanders Honored Greek Village For Its Souvlaki!

The reputation of Greek souvlaki travelled as fas as New Zealand. The village of Agios Prodromos was awarded as the place with the most delicious kebabs! Agios Prodromos is located 50 km from Thessaloniki and just 14 km from the capital of Halkidiki, Polygyros and is an ideal stop for travelers visiting the Holy Mountain and Mount Cholomonta.

Half of the 500 villagers are engaged in jobs related to ”souvlaki”: they are either breeders or own restaurants, they work as butchers, have bakeries and grocery stores, aiming to provide the best possible services to visitors. Across the village, tourists will find 20 taverns, where everyone can eat the award-winning kebab, local sweets and honey.

But what makes their souvlaki so ”unique”? It’s a secret that locals won’t reveal! As they say, good souvlaki is made of good local meats, and its preparation is a tradition that passes from generation to generation!
