Greek Tourists Increase in Black Sea and Balkans

According to an article of the Greek newspaper “Kathimerini”, the number of Greeks choosing Bulgaria, Serbia and Croatia for their holidays has risen, while many Bulgarians are choosing to go to Kavala and Thasos, Northern Greece.
Bansko has become extremely popular in the past 2-3 years thanks to the ski resort, but it is also ideal for summer vacations.

The economic crisis has had an impact on tourism, causing many Greeks to choose these countries for their very low prices, and cheap travel packages to countries such as Serbia are being offered to Greeks.

The Guca Trumpet Festival, a brass instrument festival in Serbia, constitutes a major attraction. This year the festival closed with a concert of popular artist Goran Bregovic. Other popular destinations are Croatia and Montenegro with their beautiful Dalmatian coasts.

In addition, many Greeks from Thessaloniki and generally from Northern Greece head to Bulgarian clinics in order to quit smoking or drinking alcohol. One of the more well-known clinics is “Agios Konstantinos and Eleni” which offers numerous services such as sunbathing, solarium, massage and sauna. The cost is low, the spaces are luxurious and there are a lot of green areas. For Greek patients suffering from respiratory problems, cardiovascular diseases, ulcer, insomnia, and bulimia, the clinic is also an attraction choice.
