The 2011 Young Investigator Award has been awarded to biology doctor at Aristotle University, Anastasia Papadopoulou. The findings of her research are paving the way for treating rheumatoid arthritis. Her paper won the international distinction as a part of her doctoral thesis, completed in May 2011.
The young researcher was awarded during the 17th ISCT International Society for Cellular Therapy’s annual meeting, in Holland on May 18th – 21st, 2011.
The experiments conducted in her research were used by a team of researchers as preliminary results for the submission of an inter – university research proposal on the “THALES” program. Despite the recognition of her research effort on an international level, the research proposal submitted to the aforementioned program was not “judged positively”.
