“Christ Today” Exhibition by Makis Varlamis at the Center of Vienna

With an open air artistic exhibition part of a bigger exhibition titled “Christ Today – An Exhilarating Experience of Christ”, the Greek painter and sculptor Makis Varlamis, impressed people at the square in front of the Saint Stephen Cathedral, at the center of Vienna. The Vice-Chancellor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria, Michael Spindelegger, who attended among other famous Austrians the inauguration, characterized the artworks of Makis Varlamis as a wonderful work which conveys the Christian spirit in a pleasant way. In the exhibition which will last until January 9th, 2012, almost 200 large art pieces of Makis Varlamis provides a unique experience to every visitor to “meet with Christ” because the exhibition’s purpose is the personal approach of the visitors.
Makis Varlamis was born in Veria, a city of Northern Greece, in 1942.  After studying architecture in Vienna, he became famous in the world of art as a painter, sculptor, architect, decorator and a teacher, and has worked as a professor at the Architecture School of the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and as a visiting professor in other European universities.
