Germany Mistrusts the Euro Currency

The majority of citizens of the strongest economy of the eurozone do not trust the euro currency, suggests a research published on Sunday in the German press.

The debt crisis in regional economies and especially the problems of the Greek economy have caused a wave of insecurity among Germans.  This was revealed in the results of the Research Institute Allensbach, published by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung newspaper.

In particular: 71% of respondents have “little” or “no confidence”, while 19% have “high” or “very high confidence” in the euro.

These figures are much worse than those of April, when the lack of confidence was at 66%.  In 2008, it did not exceed 50%.
Another poll published on the television network ZDF ten days ago, showed that 60% of Germans are opposed to the new aid package for Greece.
