New Acropolis Museum Photo Exhibition Hosted in Belgrade

The Belgrade and Bucharest Centre of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture will participate in the events celebrating “Museums Night”. The event will be organized in the Serbian and Romanian capital on the 14th of May, with a photo exhibition dedicated to the New Acropolis Museum. It provides a unique chance for the Belgrade audience to get acquainted with this great museum. It was designed by architect Bernard Tschumi in collaboration with the Greek architect Michael Photiadis and is built over the Sacred Rock of the Acropolis.  The fascinating exhibit presents exterior elevations of the building and the site with the findings of the excavation conducted during the museum’s construction, as well as the interior spaces housing the artifacts of ancient Greek art.
The exhibition was inaugurated on April 15th in Belgrade with great success. In Bucharest, the ceremony will take place tomorrow, May 14th. A short movie and documentary film, shot by Romanian Luminia Velciu, will inform the public on a daily basis about the New Museum. During the ceremony, a lecture will be held by historian Zoe Petre titled “Reflections on Archaic Greek Art”.
