“Alexander the Great” Performance in Bruxelles

This play, for the first time on stage will be scripted in Greek.  It is the most famous play ever written for Alexander the Great. Since its premiere (Paris, 1665), it has been played in various cities and countries. This play has established Racine as a prominent author and poet. The great author uses history, introducing elements of his poetic fantasy and also of his era and expresses with great mastery and exceptional psychological depth, the moving acts of his heroes as well as a diachronic geopolitical problem (Europe-Asia, leaders of the races). Apart from the victory in the battles, the play also expresses the struggle for dominance of the virtues against the passions. The performances will be given in the Theatre Scarabeus rue Creuse 19 1030 Bruxelles (Schaerbeek), from the 25th-27th of March.
