An article by the Hürriyet Daily News was “dedicated” yesterday to the election of Laki Viga, a member of the Greek minority in Istanbul, as the representative of Minority Foundations in the General Directorate of Vakoufia. According to his statements, minorities have been afraid of applying to the General Directorate. Nevertheless, things have changed due to the fact that there have been attempts made in favor of the harmonization to the European legislation. Lastly he pointed out that there should be more attention paid to the future of Minority Foundations in Turkey.
