Last month, Abbot Ephraim made a brief trip to Russia to meet with Vladimir Putin. According to Real News, the Abbot of Vatopedi Monastery traveled to Moscow with an airplane paid by the Russian government, to carry the remains of Saint Maximus. He was also asked to shrive Vladimir Putin, who visited the Vatopedi Monastery three years ago.
