Greek Alternate Minister for the Environment, Energy & Climate Change Nikos Sifounakis, will represent Greece at the award presentation of “The Aristotle Onassis International Prize for the Protection of the Environment”. The prize is traditionally awarded to people or institutions supporting environmental protection and sustainable development. This year the award goes to the “Friends of the Earth Middle East” (FoEME), an environmental organization of the Middle East that brings together Israeli, Jordanian and Palestinian representatives who cooperate successfully regarding the protection and management of water resources. Along with the honor of winning this prize, the organization will receive €250,000. The ceremony will take place in Hamburg which is the 2011 European green capital.
