A Greek restaurant has been commended once again for putting on a blooming good show. Arocaria Restaurant in Weston Park, Crouch End, has won The Health and Wellbeing category at The London Green Corners awards. The Awards were organised by The Conservation Foundation.
The popular restaurant that is a colourful landmark in Crouch End, was nominated by Susan Bennett of St. Regis Close, Muswell Hill, for its spirit-lifting facade.
She said: “I was crossing the road when I glimpsed the most wonderful colourful display of flowers, swathing an entire building.
“Every plant was well cared-for, planted in an amazing array of containers and hanging baskets, all beautifully arranged. The flowers concealed almost the entire building.”
Arocaria has been offering Greek cuisine in the area for 32 years.
Its owners have won a catalogue of awards in the last nine years, including the Haringey In Bloom Awards.
A spokesman for the restaurant said: “We’re very happy to have won this award. Thank you very much to Susan for nominating us. We try our best to make the area look nice and we often have people taking pictures of the display. We haven’t changed the whole time we have been here; it’s the same people and the same staff.”
The restaurant will go forward to the grand finals next spring to be judged by a panel of gardening experts.
