Greece: Hollywood production on Mikis Theodorakis

The Greek composer and his lyric opera plays “Medea”, “Antigone” and “Electra” will be promoted abroad as an “antidote” towards the image of Greece, which has been recently reviled internationally. On the 21st and 28th of August, a play will be performed at Epidaurus, with excerpts from his operas, an immediate reference to ancient Greek tragedy. The play will then tour to great cities abroad, such as Los Angeles, New York, London and elsewhere.
This will be a Hollywood production, as Asteris Koutoulas, a close associate of Mikis Theodorakis and organizer of his concerts worldwide stated to the Central Archaeological Council. The director of the play is a Greek American Hollywood director. Reportedly the director intends to start shooting a fiction film (i.e. with a plot), dedicated to the Greek composer.
The script writer of this film will be Nikos Papandreou (the brother of the Prime Minister), who has been in personal contact with Theodorakis for decades. The set, designed by Michalis Argyrou, will be kept simple. Mikis theodorakis himself will be responsible for the play, which will be recorded and broadcast in international TV networks, through the internet and on DVD.
