The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki ranked 303 on a scale of 500 in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), compiled by China’s Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Ying Chao, a graduate student from the Sanghai University’s School of International Studies, is majoring in Political Science at the Thessaloniki University.
She speaks Greek fluently and prides herself on learning about Greece through her studies.
Ying Chao (foto), who won a scholarship from the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is one of the 4,000 foreign students in total, to have received a grant for studies in Greece.
In an effort to gain a strong grasp of the Greek language, the Ministry of Education has established the Centre for the Greek Language in Thessaloniki. The Centre is a research Institute, with departments for lexicography, linguistics and a mission to promote Greek as a second language.
