The Bacchae of Euripides in Brussels

One of the best tragedies written by Euripides, “Bacchae” was successfully presented in French, directed by John Gavras and performed by the “Y-GREC” troupe in Palais des beaux arts of Brussels, from the 26th until the 29th of March.
The presence of many distinguished personalities in the plays of John Gavras, who mainly uses the Greek language in his plays, is by no means a coincidence. Last Sunday’s performance was in fact attended by the President of the European Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso, who pays particular attention, lately, in cultural activities and especially those involving many nationalities. At least five people of different nationality participated in John Gavras’ play, including Greek actors, as well as staff.
