A Turkish university is set to present internationally-acclaimed filmmaker Theo Angelopoulos with a honorary doctorate, the university said on Friday.
The Dokuz Eylul University in the western province of Izmir will give the honorary title to Angelopoulos at a ceremony to be held next Monday for the Greek director’s “objective, peace-seeking and humanist approach to the history of the Aegean.”
Angelopoulos will also deliver a speech on “Peace Culture and Cinema”.
