Members of Koispe Klimax Plus, an Athens social firm, on a visit to Isle of Wight Radio
Newport’s Riverside Centre played hosts to its Greek counterparts the Athens-based project Klimax Plus. Representatives of Klimax Plus were given training in food hygiene by staff at the Riverside Centre.
The group also visited the Isle of Wight Radio studios in Newport; Bookers wholesalers, of Cowes, and PJ Thorn Butchers, Freshwater.
Isle of Wight Radio presenter Michael Coombes presented special certificates to members of the Greek party.
Klimax Plus trustee Akis Dimopoulos said: “The Riverside Centre has a reputation as the best social firm in Europe and we were very happy to have worked with them.”
Riverside representatives plan to do a return trip to Athens in May to view its set up, which includes its own restaurant and community radio station.
Mr Coombes aims to be there too, to forge a link with the Klimax Plus radio station.
The trip will be paid for with European social funding.
