More and more people are turning their backs on their local high street travel agents such as First Choice and booking cheap flights online and booking cheap hotels which is helping to increase tourism in some countries.
Angela Gerekou, said the government is keen to “redefine the image” of the country, suggesting there is more to the Mediterranean hotspot than sun and sand.
“There’s a great wish to cultivate the local cultural identity, Ms Gerekou remarked. “We need to give Greek tourism a new identity in the market it deserves.”
Greece is becoming a favourite amongst British travellers not only due to cheap flights that are offered to Greece but also because you can get lots more for your money compared to Spain and France with the poor value Euro.
