British fashion designer Sophia Kokosalaki (foto) and Greek luxury jeweller Ilias Lalaounis have joined together to create a new jewellery collaboration for spring/summer 2010.
Both brands draw on their Hellenic heritage to create a collection of hand-crafted pieces in 18ct and 22ct gold, drawing on the art of the ancient civilization for inspiration, celebrating traditional workmanship.
Ilias Lalaounis uses techniques such as granulation, filigree, hand-hammering and repousse to create distinctive jewellery designs that fuse the past with the present. He says: “Working with a talented designer like Sophia has been a thoroughly creative and enjoyable experience. It has challenged us to find new ways of using ancient and traditional themes and transform them into bold jewelry creations to complement Sophia’s strong signature collection.”
The collection is available at Matches and Net-a-Porter
