Demis Roussos back to Romania

One of the biggest voices of world rock, Demis Roussos will perform on December 4 at the Palace Hall. Before that, the singer will be promoting his latest album and sign autographs for the fans at Diverta (Magheru).
Demis Roussos is one of the great voices of rock and, as the 1960s drew to a close, it was he who composed the soundtrack to the revolutions taking place at the time (don’t forget that Rain and Tears was recorded in Paris in the middle of May 68!).
Aphrodite’s Child were together for long enough to rack up 239 appearances on television, to record three albums and to bring the first two great Greek pop artists to the public’s attention – the singer Demis Roussos, and the composer and keyboard player Vangelis Papathanissiou. Demis Roussos went on to sell a further fifty million records after the adventure of Aphrodite’s Child.
As a young man, he brought out one hit after another (My Reason, Forever and Ever, Goodbye My Love, Goodbye, I Need You, Lost in Love, etc.). He moved to the United States for a while and recorded an album that made it into the American Top 40. After coming back to Europe, he set about developing a style that blended new age and traditional instruments from the five continents. It was then that he met the producer Marc di Domenico. After several years without making a single record, the producer persuaded Demis to go back to his roots and record a genuine rock album. His new album ‘Demis’ is an inveterate rocker’s album that calls to mind the legendary hits of his late sixties band ‘Aphrodite’s Child’ (”Rain and Tears,” “It’s Five O’Clock”) as well as the current British rock-soul revival. Supported by the young musicians of Little Barrie and Dirty Feel, Demis started touring after the summer, kicking with a first concert in September, in Paris’s Grand Rex, followed by a world tour. After decades of success Demis Roussos is ‘back to the roots, back to the tracks’.
